From Murcia (MJV)
Murcia Airport is, in fact, many kilometres from Murcia City, near the town of San Javier.
There are several different ways to get from Murcia (MJV). These instructions are for the quickest, most straightforward way, even if it is a little further than others.
On March 29th, the new Autopista, the AP7, opened to traffic and this is now the quickest route to take.
Follow the road out of the airport to the first roundabout and follow the signs towards Alicante and Murcia. After 3 kms, you get to another roundabout. Go straight on, under the motorway to the second roundabout and follow the signs towards Cartagena. You join the AP7.
After about 10kms, there is a turn off to La Manga, followed immediately by a turn off signed for Almeria. Follow this turn onto the new Autopista. It is a toll road, but there is no toll to pay until you are turning away from Cartagena. Collect a ticket, and follow the road to the Mazarron exit. Pay the toll (€ 4-75) and then follow the road, looking for a sign to Murcia, at the roundabout. The RM3 takes you towards the Country Club after about 4 kms. Turn off at Jt 20, signed 'Urbanization Country Club'. The entrance is just after the 2 garden centres on the right. The time for this route is about 40-45 minutes from the airport to the Country Club. Well worth the cost of the toll.
If you don't want to pay the toll, follow the route below on joining the AP7.
After 21kms, leave the AP7 and join the A30 towards Murcia.
After 10kms, take a right at J180, signed to Santa Ana, onto the MU602 towards Alhama and Fuente Alamo. Beware, the slip road takes a very tight circle, under the motorway you have just left.
When you get to Fuente Alamo you will be on the by-pass. Do not take any notice of the signs towards Mazarron. These take you through the mountains.
Stay on the by-pass, past Fuente Alamo for a total distance of 23kms from the motorway, to Cuevas Del Reyllos. Go through this pretty village and travel another 2kms to the Mazarron road. The road goes to the left, but you must go off to the right and then go straight across the road towards Las Canovas. Beware the new speed bumps in Las Canovas. They are very effective! (If you miss this turn, carry on along the MU602 until you reach the MU603 and turn left towards Mazarron).
9kms after leaving the MU602, you reach the RM3. Join this new motorway towards Mazarron. Carry on down this road, past Camposol, and after 8kms you get to Jt 20, signed 'Urbanization Country Club'. Turn off here and cross the bridge. The entrance is just after the 2 garden centres on the right.
From Alicante (ALC)
Much easier, but further.
On leaving the airport, follow the signs to Murcia and join the motorway
When approaching Murcia, look for a slip road to the motorway to Almeria and Granada. There is a big yellow sign with Arabic writing on it that marks to slip road.
With the opening of the RM3, it is best to go to Totana. Do not take the first turn to Totana, signed Poligono Industrial. Take the second Totana exit and turn left at the top of the slip road. Go straight in at the roundabout and then take the RM 3 to Mazarron. Turn off at Jt 20, signed 'Urbanization Country Club'. The entrance is just after the 2 garden centres on the right..
From Almeria
There are many cheap flights to Almeria from Stansted, and this is now a viable option, taking about the same time as the trip from Alicante, with much less traffic. On leaving the airport, follow the signs for Murcia and just after Vera take the new toll road towards Cartagena. Collect a ticket, and follow the road to the Mazarron exit. Pay the toll (€ 6-95) and then follow the road, looking for a sign to Murcia, at the roundabout. The RM3 takes you towards the Country Club after about 4 kms. Turn off at Jt 20, signed 'Urbanization Country Club'. The entrance is just after the 2 garden centres on the right. The time for this route is about 75-80 minutes from the airport to the Country Club.
